Towering forward Jack Bussey has returned to Featherstone Rovers after a year with Betfred Championship rivals Toronto, turning down other full-time offers to rejoin his former club.

The 26-year-old had a mixed spell with the Wolfpack, making twelve appearances and helping the club win the league. However, his Canadian spell ended on a sour note after being hit with an eight-match ban after being charged with a Grade F biting charge.

That, though, hasn’t stopped Rovers – currently without a head coach after John Duffy left the club – re-signing the powerful prop and Bussey was delighted to be rejoining the team. “It’s like I’m coming home,” he told the club’s website, continuing that “there was interest from other clubs, but I didn’t really want to go anywhere else.”

“I can’t wait to get stuck in,” the 26-year-old added before speaking about his ban. “It’s not something I’m proud of. It was a heat of the moment thing and something I won’t repeat,” he explained, admitting that he was rather unhappy at the time, in stark contrast to now where he is back around his family and friends. I’ve gone from not seeing my family for months while living out of a hotel, to now where I see my family nearly everyday. I feel a lot better in myself now, knowing that I’ve got people around me,” Bussey said.

A huge rugby league fan, Joe is from York and has followed both the Knights and Leeds Rhinos. The down to earth nature of the sport and it's players diverted his attention away from football and, now, is pursuing a writing career in the greatest sport in the world.

Get 'em Onside is that vessel. Since starting in October 2017, the site has accrued in excess of 400,000 views, nearing a million impressions and almost a thousand followers on the facebook, twitter and instagram platforms. Not bad for something that was only started to kill a bit of time!
