Walker expects tough contest as he prepares to start second PNG clash

Leeds Rhinos full-back Jack Walker is set to start in the England Knights’ second and final test against Papua New Guinea and Port Moresby on Saturday and is expecting a fierce test from the Kumuls.

After sitting out the first match which the Knights won 16-12, 19-year-old Walker is one of six changes head coach Paul Anderson has made to his team for the second test, meaning that every member of the touring party will have played in at least one of the two matches in the Pacific nation.

Walker, the youngest player to ever play in and win a Super League Grand Final with Leeds Rhinos in 2017, will wear the number one jersey and is aware of the threat that the Kumuls pose. “I’m expecting a really physical game, especially their pack who are dominant and tough,” said Walker who will line up alongside Rhinos teammates Ash Handley, Mikolaj Oledski and Liam Sutcliffe in the seventeen, the latter of whom crossed for a try in the Knights’ win last weekend.

The rest of the changes Anderson has made for Saturday’s match see Warrington forward Harvey Livett joined by new Wolves teammate Danny Walker in the seventeen while Catalans-bound Matt Whitley is included. As well as Walker, Handley and Oledski, they have replaced Niall Evalds, Oliver Holmes, Kruise Leeming, James Batchelor and Brad Fash with those five being left out while Hull FC’s Dean Hadley has returned to the UK due to illness.

A huge rugby league fan, Joe is from York and has followed both the Knights and Leeds Rhinos. The down to earth nature of the sport and it's players diverted his attention away from football and, now, is pursuing a writing career in the greatest sport in the world.

Get 'em Onside is that vessel. Since starting in October 2017, the site has accrued in excess of 400,000 views, nearing a million impressions and almost a thousand followers on the facebook, twitter and instagram platforms. Not bad for something that was only started to kill a bit of time!
