Huddersfield Giants have this morning confirmed the signing of Australian half-back Matt Frawley on a two-year-deal from Canterbury.

23-year-old Frawley has made in excess of thirty appearances for the Bulldogs in the NRL since his 2017 debut and moves to the Giants to team up with head coach Simon Woolford, a man who was first-team hooker at Canberra while Frawley was making his way in the Raiders’ under-20s team. “We’re both from Canberra so we’ve got something in common there and I’m really looking forward to working with him and developing my game under him,” Frawley told the media. “When the opportunity came up to play for him at the Giants I jumped at it straight away,” he added.

Woolford spoke of his new acquisitions strengths and believes that he can help the Giants build on their strong second half of 2018. “He’s still only young so he’s got some things to learn but we feel we can mould him into our team nicely and he will do a really good job. He’s a good organiser with a good kicking game, particularly short kicking game, defensively he’s pretty solid too and that’s what we need, someone who can take control of the game,” the Huddersfield head coach remarked.

Frawley’s arrival will, in all probability, see him slot in as one of the Giants’ two first choice half-backs and paves the way for the experienced Danny Brough to complete his move to Wakefield Trinity.

Get 'em Onside is that vessel. Since starting in October 2017, the site has accrued in excess of 400,000 views, nearing a million impressions and almost a thousand followers on the facebook, twitter and instagram platforms. Not bad for something that was only started to kill a bit of time!
