Leeds Rhinos are being strongly linked with a move for former Australian test international and State of Origin forward Trent Merrin.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have joined media sources Down Under in claiming that the Rhinos have offered the 29 year-old Penrith man a four-year deal and, with the club known to be on the hunt for another marquee signing following the acquisition of Tongan centre Konrad Hurrell, the reports may not be wide of the mark.

Merrin has made in excess of 200 first grade appearances and, with two years still remaining on his current deal with the Panthers, an agreement would have to be struck between the two clubs for the move to be completed. The forward is capable of playing anywhere in the pack and his signing would no doubt be a big statement of intent for the club as Kevin Sinfield and Dave Furner aim to improve the club’s fortunes after a challenging 2018.

Get 'em Onside is that vessel. Since starting in October 2017, the site has accrued in excess of 400,000 views, nearing a million impressions and almost a thousand followers on the facebook, twitter and instagram platforms. Not bad for something that was only started to kill a bit of time!

Joe, John Elliott here from Canberra. I enjoy all this English Rugby League stuff I read on here and thanks for putting it up. Of course I am a Raiders supporter and long time Raiders member. I hope you get this because I am currently blocked on Facebook, I can read stuff but normally I can’t comment. But this will be interesting to see if this leaves my phone. Keep up the good work mate 😎

Thanks very much! Very kind of you! Glad to see the site is being read Down Under – looks like you’re getting a hell of a player next year in John Bateman, looking forward to seeing how he goes in green in 2019.
