Widnes Vikings have today announced the signing of Adam Tangata from Betfred Championship rivals Halifax on a two-year-deal.
Since signing for the Yorkshiremen ahead of the 2015 season, the 27-year-old Cook Islands international made almost a century of appearances for the club and scored 26 tries. It is believed that Halifax wanted to keep hold of their popular forward but the lure of full time rugby clearly proved too strong for Tangata to resist as he aims to help the Vikings earn an immediate return to Super League.
“I’m excited to sign, and it’s a great opportunity for me to come and play for Widnes,” Tangata told the media and explained that he felt the time was right for a switch. “For myself personally, I needed a new challenge in my career and I am truly grateful for this opportunity,” he added.
