England head coach Wayne Bennett has named his seventeen for the nation’s match against France on Wednesday night at Leigh Sports Village with eight debutants set to make their international bow.

Hull FC’s Jamie Shaul has been named at full-back while cross-city KR rival Robbie Mulhern joins Adam Milner, Luke Thompson and Liam Sutcliffe as debutants starting on the interchange bench. Wakefield pair Tom Johnstone – who has played internationally for Germany in the past – will line up in the backline alongside fellow Trinity star Reece Lyne as the pair join Castleford Tigers’ Oliver Holmes in making their first international appearances.

Johnstone and Lyne are the only two who were included in the England squad for the international series against New Zealand as the remaining six were called up for the France match alone due to the absence of Wigan and Warrington players due to their involvement in Saturday’s Grand Final.

Leeds Rhinos’ Richie Myler has been named in the halves alongside Jake Connor as the former Warrington pivot makes his first international appearance since 2012.
