Bradford Bulls have confirmed the signing of Australian winger Jy Hitchcox on a two year deal from Super League team Castleford.
After joining the club on loan initially in April, he rejoined towards the end of the season after being recalled by the Tigers and has an impressive record of nine tries in five appearances. No wonder he has been given the nickname ‘The Postman’. It was announced earlier in the season by Tigers head coach Daryl Powell that Hitchcox wouldn’t be staying with the club beyond the end of this season and Bradford, after securing a return to the Betfred Championship, have moved to tie down a player who has the ability to be one of the very best in the second tier.
He will team up with former Castleford teammate Jake Webster at Odsal, the centre’s move having been confirmed back in August. Of securing the services of Hitchcox, Bulls chairman Andrew Chalmers remarked that “Jy was a huge influence on the squad during his time on loan at the club this season, he has played in Super League Grand Finals, and demonstrated as recently as the Play off Final that he can finish tries and impact a game as well as any outside back in the league.”
