Catalans and Wigan in talks to play in Barcelona

After parading the Challenge Cup trophy at the recent Barcelona football match against Girona at the Nou Camp, Sky Sports have confirmed that Catalans Dragons and Wigan Warriors are in discussions with the La Liga club to host a Super League match at the iconic football stadium in 2019.

It is believed that the Barcelona club president Joseph Maria Bartomeu invited the Dragons to play at the stadium next year and, while the RFL would have to approve any switch of venue, all parties are believed to be supportive and receptive of the idea. Negotiations are believed to be underway to find a weekend all involved deem suitable.

It would be the first time the stadium will have hosted a rugby league match.

Get 'em Onside is that vessel. Since starting in October 2017, the site has accrued in excess of 400,000 views, nearing a million impressions and almost a thousand followers on the facebook, twitter and instagram platforms. Not bad for something that was only started to kill a bit of time!
