Gold Coast Titans of the NRL have this morning announced the signing of Warrington Wolves’ Tyrone Roberts on a two-year-deal until the end of 2020.

Having signed from Newcastle Knights ahead of this season to great fanfare, 27-year-old Roberts recently requested an early release from his deal citing homesickness. Having agreed to this request, Warrington moved to secure the services of Canberra’s Blake Austin as a replacement and Roberts’ next destination has now been revealed and he is set to return to the club he served between 2011 and 2015.

Lining up alongside Kevin Brown in Steve Price’s half-back pairing, Roberts has helped Warrington recover from a dire 2017 to now be safely in the Super League top four whilst also earning a Challenge Cup final appearance at the end of this month following Sunday’s hammering of Leeds Rhinos.

Roberts’ new coach will be Garth Brennan, a man who he worked with during his time with the Newcastle Knights, and he spoke highly of the Titans’ latest acquisition. “Tyrone is a very good half but will also add that real utility value to our squad and the fact he can play six, seven, nine or one makes him such a valuable commodity to have,” Brennan said. “Tyrone’s been part of a successful club overseas who just qualified for the Challenge Cup final at Wembley so the experience he has gained in his short time over in England will be extremely valuable to bring back to our young squad.”
