Despite recent rumours linking the former Manly Sea Eagles half back with the resurgent Huddersfield Giants, Jackson Hastings is set to join Salford Red Devils on a short term deal until the end of the season.

Having seen Simon Woolford’s Giants withdraw from discussions with the 22-year-old Australian this week due to a lack of contact over the move, Ian Watson’s Salford now find themselves at the front of the queue for the unpredictable pivot. His departure from NRL team Manly came after fall outs with club captain Daly Cherry-Evans and other team mates and had been featuring for their feeder club Blacktown Workers.

Speaking of the collapse of his team’s pursuit of the player, Huddersfield’s Woolford explained that “we’ve been holding out for a ‘yes’ from Jackson’s manager for around a month now and we couldn’t let it drift on any longer so we set a deadline of Wednesday after which we said we’d move on, which we have.”
