After reports in recent weeks suggesting the club were interested in bringing him in, Warrington Wolves have now confirmed that London Broncos’ Matt Davis will join the club in 2019.
Penning a two year deal with the club, 21-year-old Davis will add to head coach Steve Price’s back row options and arrives at the club following high praise from a former coach. “He’s a grafter and does all the little things well in the game of Rugby League. He has really impressed me with his attitude and comes with a big rap from Andrew Henderson [Warrington assistant] who coached him at London Broncos,” Price revealed. With 58 appearances to his name for the capital club, Davis’ attitude both on and off the field are highly regarded by his current team and Price is understandably keen to see that continue once he joins Super League’s fourth placed club.
Of his move, Davis revealed that he wanted to test himself in a different environment, continuing that the vision of Price was hugely attractive to him. “After talking to Steve Price and Andrew Henderson, Warrington really appealed to me. I had a good chat with Hendo about a few things and he and Steve Price have a really good vision at Warrington,” he explained.
He also displayed gratitude to his current coaches, saying “I want to thank Danny and Jamie Langley for their help in making me the player I am now.”
