With his previous deal expiring at the end of this season, Leeds Rhinos fans are understandably delighted that Australian forward Adam Cuthbertson has penned a new two year deal with the reigning Super League champions.

The hugely popular prop has been with the Rhinos since the 2015 season and has recently passed 100 appearances in the blue and amber. Known for his offload game, he set a remarkable record of 125 in 2015 and his ball playing ability has proven to be a key part of the Rhinos play in recent years. The former Newcastle Knight, 33, expressed his delight at signing the new deal. “I have been able to ingrain myself within the culture of the club and make this a long-term commitment between both parties,” continuing “I feel part of the club, not just as a player, but part of the fabric of the place.”

His involvement and responsibility at the club has grown this year as coach of the Leeds Rhinos Women’s team in their maiden campaign and he has previously outlined how much he enjoys that role, possibly using it as experience before heading into full-time mens’ coaching in the future. After signing his new deal, the chances are the Australian will end his career with the Rhinos and youngsters like Mikolaj Oledzki will continue to come through into the first team squad. Speaking of the progress of youth at Leeds, ‘Cuthbo’ admitted that “the young guys will keep me on my toes and it is a great role that I have working with them. I am looking forward to being a vital part of this team and for them in their career development.”
