Canberra in for Warriors pair

Rumours have been circulating for weeks now that Wigan Warriors’ John Bateman and Ryan Sutton are set to leave the club for the NRL and, now, Canberra Raiders have reportedly set to sign the pair, adding to their English contingent.

Australian sources are suggesting that the Raiders have agreed terms with the pair and the club is already home to Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead, the latter of whom was an early teammate at Bradford Bulls of Bateman, both having come through the youth ranks of the West Yorkshire club.

Bateman has a clause in his contract where he can leave Wigan for the NRL as long as a set – but publically unknown – fee is met while Sutton is out of contract at the end of this campaign, meaning that the 22 year old could leave the DW Stadium club for nothing.
