Following their recent NRL acquisitions Chase Stanley and Darcy Lussick, it is being reported that Canadians’ Toronto Wolfpack are set to announce the signature of Warrington Wolves’ winger Matty Russell.
The Scotland international was strongly linked with a move to Salford Red Devils but it is believed that his contract at Wire led to his wage demands being too high for the AJ Bell outfit. That, however, isn’t a problem for the Wolfpack as they aim to cement their position at the top of the Betfred Championship and promotion via the Middle 8s in only their second campaign in the European system.
The former Gold Coast Titans’ back has also being on the books of Hull FC and Wigan Warriors in the UK but has fallen down the pecking order at the Halliwell Jones Stadium following Josh Charnley’s return from rugby union. It is believed that a deal was struck over this weekend to see the 24 year old join the Canadians and this weekend coming marks their first home match of the season after ending their time in the England with a 42-10 win over Halifax at London’s New River Stadium.
