The weather system dubbed ‘Beast from the East’ has hit the UK hard this week with swathes of the country suffering from blizzards and heavy snow.
Areas of Yorkshire have been hit particularly hard and it has cast doubts over whether Leeds Rhinos’ home match against Catalans will take place this Friday. While the pitch itself is in good condition, the building site and surrounding areas are suffering from heavy snow and winds while the fact that the French are due to fly into the country tomorrow is another issue for the teams to overcome with Leeds’ CEO explaining that there are doubts over the match going ahead.
However, if it does, the 2017 Grand Final winners will be welcoming back a handful of stars who were unable to feature in their 23-6 loss to Widnes Vikings last weekend due to injury or illness. Prop Anthony Mullally is set to return for the club following an injury sustained in Leeds’ second match of the season against Hull KR at Elland Road and wingers Ryan Hall and Tom Briscoe will start following absence due to tonsillitis and a back injury respectively. Carl Ablett is set to return also.
Leeds will be hoping to return to winning ways after losing on their last two outings against Melbourne Storm and Widnes against a Dragons outfit yet to experience victory this season.
